Can I use my Donor Advised Fund (DAF) to pay for my Symphony at Salk sponsorship or ticket?
Using your DAF to pay for any part of your Symphony ticket or sponsorship (even just the tax-deductible portion) could expose you to an excise tax penalty according to IRS Code Section 4697 and Notice 2017-73, as the IRS views attending an event as receiving more than an incidental benefit for your donation. Salk recommends consulting your tax professional or reaching out to us for further guidance.
What is the attire for the event?
The attire is summer cocktail/business attire. We recommend bringing a jacket or wrap since this is San Diego and it gets cold in the evening.
Who will be providing the musical entertainment?
This year’s concert under the stars will feature a thrilling private performance by a special guest artist and the talented San Diego Symphony. It’s sure to be a spectacular night of music.
Will a meal be provided?
Yes, following a champagne reception, attendees will be served a gourmet dinner and wine while the sun sets over the Pacific Ocean and basks the courtyard in a warm glow.
Will individual tickets be sold?
A limited amount of individual tickets will go on sale on June 2.
What if the event gets cancelled?
In the unlikely event Symphony at Salk is canceled due to inclement weather, sponsorship contributions will be considered nonrefundable donations to help to advance the critical scientific research at Salk.
Is there parking at the event?
Sponsors have reserved parking in our East Lot and individual ticket holders have access to free parking.
